One day while I was attending a church that rented space for a Sunday service from the BMBH, the pastor ask me if I can volunteer to help the owner with some landscape work. I said, sure. So, I show up and that was the first time I met Russ. We hit it off and started planning an elaborate project, that would end up taking me all summer just to figure out the various elements he wanted to incorporate!
Russ has a lot of really good ideas, I will say! This guy does a lot. He runs Christian radio programs and a ministry that does all kinds of outreach type stuff. So Mr. ideas meets GB and off we go. Soon I’m working on site and market concepts that are a lot more advanced than we could ever fund. But we were trying! And it was fun, to an extent.
Long story short, I pretty much got myself kicked out of my own project, sometime in the fall of 24. I’m still learning the complex world of Christian etiquette:)
That’s ok! Me and Russ parted as buddies and he gave me enough ideas and content to last my life, so it’s all good. None the less this is a project Christians should be dying to support! None did at the time, but they lack vision! That is one thing I came to learn the hard way, Christians don’t actually care about spreading Jesus, in general. I’m not even sure most Christians actually believe in the Jesus of The Bible? They certainly don’t act as if they do. They say so with their mouth, I acknowledge. But logic suggest, no. They don’t really care they are getting RAN by the world and are an embarrassing rep of the cross. Rather they just want to keep what they have in many cases, as far as I can tell.
But not Russ, I could see Russ fighting for it in the background. He just lost, his so called “board of directors” holds him back and thwarts every serious move he would otherwise make. So I said ok ok Russ, I will part and go my own way. As red tape would appear at every turn. We couldn’t really get anywhere, so I just made him a basic site that doesn’t really make that much sense based on how I could have done it from the start, had I known better.
But the story isn’t actually over! I told Russ, I’d go do my own thing and circle back when I had a better idea how I could be of use in promoting his house on my own accord. All I’d like to do is encourage people to visit with this guy, going through his little collection of artifacts throughout the house. It’s fun, it’s good and legit conversation about The Bible! And Christians, we need way more of that! Not to grow your church base, just to spread Jesus into peoples brains.
More importantly, perhaps, Russ can teach you something important. How The Bible is awesome and fun! He doesn’t know everything, and I love that he will just say “I don’t know”? He will try to find out, or just admit he doesn’t actually have a perfect idea of whatever it is. Russ is fun and humble. Not to say he doesn’t know things, he does! Cool stuff.
If it were up to me I’d raise a million for this guy and make sure none of it went to his board, but rather to building this Museum and a place to hang out for Christians. So that’s my pitch, if you donate on this page. I’ll give it all to Russ for the building and development of this important project.
